The ZYN Fundamentals
ZYN is a popular range of tobacco leaf-free nicotine pouches that offer adults (21+) a fresh way to enjoy their nicotine in a completely smoke- and spit-free way. You may have heard them referred to as 'ZYNs' or 'Zynnies.'
You'll find that ZYN ingredients are very similar to other nicotine pouches except they use nicotine salt, which is a synthetic and tobacco leaf-free nicotine formulation. Otherwise they consist of fillers, pH balancers, sweeteners, flavorings and a granulation agent for pouch consistency.
ZYN Rewards is a loyalty program where you can earn points from every eligible ZYN purchase and put those points towards prizes. All you have to do is add the code from the bottom of the can to your ZYN Rewards account to keep your points balance updated, then redeem them in the ZYN Rewards store when you're ready to start shopping.
Like all nicotine pouches, ZYN is intended for existing nicotine and/or tobacco users who are over 21 years old.
ZYNs are available in a Less Intense and Regular nicotine concentration, with the choice between ZYN 3mg (3mg of nicotine per pouch) and ZYN 6mg (6mg of nicotine per pouch).
There are 10 different ZYN flavors in the US at the moment (including 2 unflavored). You willfind a larger assortment of ZYNs in Sweden and Europe, however.
ZYN offers 10 different flavor options:ZYN Wintergreen,ZYN Cool Mint,ZYN Peppermint,ZYN Spearmint,ZYN Menthol,ZYN Citrus,ZYN Coffee,ZYN Cinnamon,ZYN Chill and ZYN Smooth.
No, ZYN does not have a Cola flavored pouch in either their US- or EU-assortment.
No, ZYN does not have a Mountain Dew flavored ZYN pouch (or any other sodas for that matter).
Since their US launch in 2014, ZYN has grown to become a household name. This is most likely due to their popular range of flavors and strengths, which have been tailored to American tastebuds. The fact that they offer a tobacco leaf-free and smoke-free way to enjoy nicotine anytime, anywhere, only adds to their appeal. But don't just take our word for it – get more insights into the nicotine experience from actual customers in our ZYN review.
Each ZYN pouch contains less than 1 calorie.
ZYN nicotine pouches are sugar-free, but do contain an artificial sweetner (Acesulfame K) commonly found in sodas and confectionery.
Yes, ZYN is considered gluten-free as each pouch contains less than 20 parts per million (PPM) of gluten. This is the gluten-free cutoff as dictated by the FDA, however, you should speak to a healthcare professional before trying any unfamiliar products if you're unsure.
A ZYN pouch contains less than 1% of the recommended carbohydrate intake for a diet based on 2,000 calories a day.
New names are popping up all the time to describe this particular nicotine pouch phenomenon. ZYN pouches are commonly referred to as "ZYNs" or "Zynnies," or you might also hear "upper decky lip pillow" or "gum pillows," among others.
Yes, there shouldn't be any issues bringing (or using) your ZYN pouches on a plane. It's important to always double check the individual regulations of the airline you're flying with though, as well as at your final destination.
Using ZYN
Using ZYN is simple, you just need to follow 4 steps to get started:
1. Put the pouch into your mouth.
2. Park it between your upper lip and gum.
3. Leave it there for up to an hour (but feel free to take it out sooner).
4. Remove the pouch and throw it straight in the trash!
You should never swallow a ZYN pouch on purpose, but if you do accidentally, it could upset your stomach and cause you to feel a bit nauseous. Don't panic. Drink water and get in touch with a healthcare professional for advice.
On average, our customers say they keep their ZYNs in for 30-45 minutes, allowing enough time for the nicotine and flavor to be comfortably released. Some choose to take the pouch out earlier and others may decide to leave it in longer. We generally recommend anywhere up to an hour before the flavor/nicotine starts to go stale but, again, this is a matter of personal preference. The cans themselves have a "best before" date you should use them by.
A can of ZYN holds 15 individual portions. This is the same as Lucy nicotine pouches, but a bit less when compared to other brands like On!, Rogue and VELO that offer 20 per can. Despite the lower pouch count, ZYN is still a reliable option for those seeking consistency and quality because their long-lasting flavor means you don't have to change them as often.
Each can of ZYN has a certified child-resistant safety lid, which is the first of its kind in the industry and a bit different to other nicotine pouches you may have tried. You start by breaking the perforated label around the edge of the can, then twisting the lid to align the top and bottom arrows before lifting off the lid. Simple! Make sure you always keep the lid on after use.
The best place to "park" a ZYN pouch is between your upper lip and gum for optimal nicotine absorption and minimal saliva production. Most customers position their ZYN slightly to the left or right for a more comfortable and discreet fit. You can, of course, put a ZYN between your lower lip and gum but this is less common and less effective. ZYNs should never go underneath your tongue.
When it comes to the number of ZYNs you're consuming each day, there is no set rule. That being said, Nico*kick customers report to using roughly half a can per day (on average). You should listen to your body though and only do what feels right to you. This will depend on the strength of the pouch you're using, as well as how long you're leaving each pouch in and your level of nicotine tolerance. Start by reading the instructions on the can and keep in mind that you shouldn't have to replace your pouch more than once every 1-2 hours.
While ZYN pouches do not have an expiry date, they do have a "best before" date. To enjoy ZYN at its freshest, consume it before the "best before" date printed on the bottom of each can. It's still safe to use ZYN after this date, but the flavor and nicotine experience may be less intense.
ZYN is known for their dry pouches and not producing much saliva, so you shouldn't feel the need to spit while using ZYN!
It's not recommended to use more than one ZYN pouch at a time.
The nicotine in ZYN is best absorbed orally when you put the pouch between your upper lip and gum. This produces less drip (meaning not as much saliva that can burn your throat or make you feel like you need to spit) and is reported to be the most comfortable (with more room up there it is less likely to slip out of position when you're talking, for instance).

ZYN Effects
Usually it takes 1-3 days after you stop using nicotine pouches for the nicotine to leave your bloodstream and around 10 days to remove all traces of cotinine (a by-product of your liver enzymes breaking down nicotine and what most nicotine tests look for). Certain things like drinking more water or eating antioxidant-rich foods may speed up this process, but how long nicotine stays in your system will ultimately depend on how much you've consumed in addition to some health/genetic factors.
ZYN nicotine pouches contain either 3mg or 6mg of nicotine per pouch.
There is often a slight burn when you first "park" a nicotine pouch against your gum. This is totally normal and where ZYN's pH adjusters step in. The pH level should be high enough for effective nicotine absorption, but not so high that the burning or tingling sensation is uncomfortable. The more milligrams of nicotine you have per pouch, the more you will feel this – but it should start to subside after about 5 minutes. If you feel a prolonged burn, remove the ZYN pouch immediately.
Nicotine pouches have been known to cause hiccups for some people, but this is not exclusive to ZYN and is not inherently dangerous. You may find hiccuping more common if you use products with a higher nicotine content (mg/pouch), but this is dependent on how much nicotine your body is used to. If you start to hiccup, scale back your consumption or lower the nicotine dosage. Remember to always listen to your body and don't hesitate to consult a healthcare professional if the hiccuping persists.
